Hopewell, N.Y.

Justin Baker, the new station manager of Finger Lakes Television, has a simple goal in mind for the station. As channel surfers zip around from station to station, Baker wants them to find a home on Channel 12 — FLTV.

FLTV is available to about 50,000 people in Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties for Time Warner Cable subscribers, and has been around since 1992; however, Baker expressed concerns that not everyone is aware of it, or how they can benefit from it.

“The biggest thing is public awareness,” Baker said. “There are a lot of people who don’t know they have access to the channel or they don’t even know they have the ability to give us content.”

He also noted that many people are not aware that their taxpayer money helps contribute to funding for the station.
